Atelier Sentô is a French duo (Cécile Brun & Olivier Pichard), working on The Coral Cave, a watercolour adventure game.
The Atelier Sentô was inspired by our travels in Japan, the people we met and our drawings and photographs. We work with traditional techniques: watercolors, etching, coloured pencils... Through our work we would like to show an unusual side of Japan, made up of small villages in the mountains, festivals, forgotten spirits. We sometimes run workshops in schools and make games with children or students. W'd like to share these free short interactive stories here. They're the proof anyone can create a videogame only with paper and pencils.
OUR PROJECTS :
* THE CORAL CAVE: A watercolor adventure game set in Japan, created only by the two of us. Still in development...
* AFTER SCHOOL: A short videogame entirely hand-painted on paper, using pencils and watercolors. It's a collaboration between students in Game Art at ECV Bordeaux (backgrounds, characters & animations) and Atelier Sentô (story, music & programming). It was done in 2 days during a masterclass.
* RETURN OF THE SAMURAI: A short adventure game made in an afternoon, during a workshop at Japannecy, a Japanese culture festival. All the graphics and dialogues were made by the visitors (mostly children from 5 to 15). Drawings were scanned right after completion so people could immediately watch the result in game.
